Honduras, Beyond the News
Honduras has also suffered the devastating effects of Hurricanes Eta and Iota. It is heartbreaking to see families who have lost their homes and belongings. Through Awana Honduras, God has allowed us to provide for their basic needs and share hope with them during this time.
A few days ago, we arrived in Valle de Sula, specifically the city of San Pedro, where God opened the doors for us to distribute food baskets to several families. We saw people of faith coming together as one body to support one another and encourage each other to press on in the midst of adversity.
We thank the Lord for the support provided by Pastor Marlon Saldivar, president of the Cortés Association of Baptist Churches (ASIBAC by its acronym in Spanish), whose team helped us get to all the designated sites. Many people who have been displaced by the flooding are currently sheltering at Jerusalem Baptist Church while they rebuild their homes.
“There are no words to express our gratitude to God for what you have done for us. What a blessing! We lost everything after the first hurricane, but God’s grace keeps us standing firm. May God continue to use you.” Pedro Martinez.
Prayer Requests:
For the team of ASIBAC churches that are serving as shelters for families in need. Pray that God would provide them with the necessary resources to continue their work.
For the necessary resources for families to rebuild their homes. Pray that God would give them strength and health to return home soon.
That this time would allow for non-believers to come to know, love, and serve Jesus.
